AWH Colour Creations - Week 40 - Powder Pink

Welcome to Week 40 of the Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop

This weeks colour challenge features one of the outgoing Incolours.  I must admit I'm not that sad about Powder Pink leaving (as we have quite a few pinks) but I will sadly miss Lemon Lime Twist and Berry Burst.  On the other hand it is exciting to anticipate what new Incolours we will get in June.

Powder Pink is the perfect colour for Baby Girl cards, sympathy and anything really feminine.  I struggled a little trying to make this colour front and centre.  I hope you enjoy my projects.

The background of the card is done on the Powder Pink Cardstock and using the "Crackle Paint" Background stamp and Powder Pink Stampin' Ink for that tone on tone colour.  I love this background stamp and I used it on all 100 of my swaps for Onstage Live in New Zealand next month.

The featured stamp set is "Hello Cupcake" with the co-ordinating "Call Me Cupcake" Dies.  A tiny pop of Crumb Cake for the cupcake wrapper and the heart popper is stamped in Flirty Flamingo.  To add to the Powder Pink theme I used the 3/8" Shimmer Ribbon behind the focal image and then punched out 3 little flowers with the Bitty Blooms Punch Pack.

I used the Stitched Rectangles to die cut the Smoky Slate and Whisper White centre pieces and challenged myself to put the Smoky Slate one slightly crooked.  Anyone that knows me knows that I am usually all about straight lines and symmetry.  As you can see it is only just off centre, so it was a compromise!  A few little metallic pearls and of course Wink of Stella on the cake top and my card is complete.

My second project was very quick to complete and I completed 2 cards.  The first one makes the Powder Pink the focal colour, but it just didn't really feel right to me, so I swapped the colours to make the Berry Burst the focal colour and the Powder Pink as the secondary colour.  Which do you like the best?

The background is stamped with the small bokeh dots in the Beauty Abounds Stamp Set and the gorgeous butterflies are die cut with the Butterfly Beauty Dies.  A quick sentiment and these cards are done in a matter of minutes.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my projects.  I hope that you will check out the other Powder Pink creations from my Art With Heart Team Members.  Click here to go to Catherine's Blog who has all the links to the rest of the team.  (a bit of a hitch with the links but it will be fixed as soon as possible - after a bit of team collaboration!)

Happy Crafting!

  3. Wow, Tania these are all beautiful cards but I do agree with you that the powder pink works better as a secondary colour in your butterfly design. And yes, yes, yes I'm very sad too that lemon lime twist is retiring!!!! Thanks for hopping along tonight xx

  5. Both cards are gorgeous. The cupcake card is my favourite, I love the layers and colour combination. Those flowers from the Bitty Blooms punch set are so cute. Enjoy your trip to NZ and On Stage.

  6. Your butterfly card is lovely with Berry Burst, but I love your cupcake card with the crackle background, it's awesome and a very enticing cupcake. I'm impressed you have made 100 swaps already for OnStage, wow!

  7. I'm so sad that we have to farewell Berry Burst. I agree that it's the better focal colour on your butterfly cards, but they both look fabulous. Good on you for the wonky panel int he cupcake card - it looks fantastic.
