AWH Colour Creations - Week 39 - Poppy Parade

This week the Art With Heart Team are focusing on the colour "Poppy Parade".  It is such a bright and vibrant colour that the options are endless.  I hope you enjoy my 2 creations as well as the amazing projects from my team members.

My first project is a card that features the Floral Frames Stamp Set and co-ordinating Foliage Frame Framelits

The Poppy Parade background has been run through the Subtle embossing folder for that added texture.  A small strip of the Painted Seasons Designer Series Paper (as it's great to use up our scraps) was placed behind the focal image to give it some lift.  I added a couple of Call Me Clover leaves punched out using the Sprig Punch and did the same with Vellum.  I also added one leaf from the Leaf Punch, also in Call Me Clover.  I added the small butterfly from the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set and punched it out with the Butterfly Duet Punch.

The flowers and leaves are coloured with Stampin' Blends (Poppy Parade and Call Me Clover, with just a dash of Mango Melody).  And of course, a little sparkle on the flowers with the Wink of Stella brush and some Rhinestones coloured with Mango Melody Stampin' Blends for the flower centres.

My second project was a little more complicated but it came together really well.

I gift wrapped a small box using the Painted Seasons Designer Series Paper and used some Call Me Clover 1/8" Grosgrain Ribbon.  The flower on top was made using the Blossoms Builder Punch.  I have had this punch for a couple of years now and this is the first time I have used it.

I punched out quite a few petals using Poppy Parade cardstock and then used the Stampin' Pierce mat and the stylus from the scoreboard to break down the paper fibres and mold the flower petals.  With patience and quite a bit of tombow glue I put the petals and leaves together to create the flower.  I was so happy with how it turned out.

I think this has become one of my favourite punches now!  I added the tiniest amount of Frost White Shimmer Paint to rubbing alcohol and sprayed it on the flower. By using just a tiny amount it gave it a sparkle without turning it white!

I hope you have enjoyed my projects.  Thank you for stopping by.  Head on over to Catherine's blog where you'll find the links to the other team participants.
