Birthday Blooms is one of my favourite stamp sets. I'm not sure that I will ever stop using it, even though it is retiring. If this set is on your wishlist, I suggest you hurry as I just know it is going to sell out fast and once it's gone, it's gone for good!
I have coloured the flower using the Stampin' Blend Markers - Rich Razzleberry Dark, Pink Pirouette Dark and Daffodil Delight Light. they really do blend together very well. The leaves are coloured with Old Olive Light and Dark Stampin' Blend markers.
The image below shows the colouring in more detail, and you can also see the wink of stella I have used on the petals to make it sparkle. I absolutely love Wink of Stella - I really am a sparkles and bling sort of girl 😊
The base is Rich Razzleberry and the layer of Designer Series Paper is from a retired set called Blooms and Bliss. Any Paper would work or even creating your own background would be effective. The flower is also popped on a layer of Rich Razzleberry and mounted on the card with dimensionals. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments Stamp Set - also retiring and punched out using the Classic Label Punch. The pinkish colour is the Sweet Sugarplum cardstock which is one of the outgoing Incolours. I will miss this colour dearly!
Two banners layered - Rich Razzleberry and Sweet Sugarplum, add a little interest to the right side of the card. To tie in the yellow I used the ribbon for a splash of colour. I didn't have any Daffodil Delight ribbon, so used the 1/8" Whisper White ribbon and coloured it using the Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blend marker. Works perfectly. I love how the whole card came together.
Below is the same stamp that has been coloured just using prisma coloured pencils. It can be coloured in a variety of ways. Watercolouring would be beautiful but I haven't made a card with this stamp yet using that medium. It's on my to do list...
Below is one of the first cards I made using this stamp set. I made this card before I became a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. This was coloured using copic markers, as the Stampin' Blends had not been released then. I just love the depth of colour in this and it is one of my favourite all time cards. I also love the sentiment. It is from the same stamp set, and the font is just so fun and bright.
I highly recommend this stamp set. It really is gorgeous and you will find plenty of uses for it and the beautiful sentiments that go with it. Click on any of the links below in the product list and it will take you directly to my online store to purchase. Also, don't forget, if you would like to come and learn to make cards like these don't hesitate to sign up for one of my classes. Just hit the classes and events tab above to learn more. I would love to craft with you.
